(Question from Shoaib, London, UK)
Hi, what will be your advice for someone like me who wishes to break in to the national circuit and has been playing cricket for a long time.Thank you.
Hi Shoaib, there is a couple of options, you need to be playing a high level of amateur cricket, preferably minor counties. Then with the excellent results you have been getting, write to the Directors of Cricket at specific counties and ask for a trial. If you don’t have good stats I am afraid they won’t look at you, there is too much competition out there.
Secondly, if you are playing a high level of first league cricket and realy can bowl well, then again write to the county, Director of cricket or 2nd XI Coach and ask to come and be a net bowler. Most sides are usually looking for net bowlers, if you impress there is an opportunity for you to get a 2nd X1 game or an invitation game. If you bowl well and you have a great attitude anything could happen !
Go for it, you have nothing to lose !
Best wishes Coach
